Please don’t tell me to get a new laptop, I just want to get it working. There may be a software solution. For laptops you can often clean the power and data contacts with a pencil eraser.

The thing is that when I put a disc in, doesn’t matter what kind, I can hear the drive start up but immediately stops. When i open the device manager everything is alright, the driver is up to date, the drive is recognized and everything. So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 parts to not function while the others do so properly.
